Hey there, everybody. I think it's about time we talk about the Polytoria economy reset, where it's currently at, and what's going to happen in the future.

As time goes on, we've been observing that a good number of users have been arguing and debating about the foretold "economy reset", which is currently set to happen during the release of the the new upgraded website. We've given you guys almost a year's notice ahead of time, and that time is drawing near. A date hasn't been set yet, but it could be as early as a few months and as late as another year

We understand that lots of users, especially those among our veteran players, are not happy with this upcoming change. Some of our players have spent years collecting items, creating clothing, and growing their firm in the community, and the team can completely understand the frustration as the image of a full data reset would look like you're losing everything.

We are really grateful for your dedication to the website, but to all of our players I'd like to ask that you step backwards a bit and look at the full picture as to how devastated the player market currently is right now. After evaluating a LOT of info behind the scenes, we've concluded that in order for Polytoria to progress far beyond our small community, we will have to fully reset the player economy in order to lay a stronger foundation that will allow the entire platform to grow far beyond what Willemsteller originally intended.

The team completely understands the frustration, and a common argument against this decision is "Well, can't you just repair the economy instead?"

When Polytoria first started approximately 3 years ago, the asset team was extremely unprofessional and items were carelessly uploaded to the shop with zero quality control. These items had absurd prices and low stock, and this has even still been happening recently. The abundance of poor quality items is completely trashing the user market and is a big bottleneck that prevents us from expanding. By resetting all of the distributed worth and putting everyone back at an even playing field, Polytoria has the potential to become something bigger than it is right now.

The economy reset is something we can only pull off once, and once we get bigger it's a shot we won't be able to take again in the future. We need to take advantage of the fact that our community is small, so it's better sooner than later.

Another big reason for the reset is a brand new item format that our asset team is gonna need to learn. All of the previous items are going to be incompatible with the new website and client, and having to go back to rewrite hundreds of item manifests just isn't worth the time, when we can instead focus on creating newer and more spectacular content for the marketplace

FAQ:
"Will some hats return after the ecoconomy reset?"
Yes, we will reupload some older hats back to the shop, but you will not own them again.

"Will I get compensated with bricks?"
Everybody will be compensated in one way or another, and we hope to make a fair exchange that benefits everyone in the long run.
It's REALLY important that you understand that we can't do a 1:1 compensation of your bricks. Remember that, in the new economy, bricks and studs are going to have a completely different value because inflation is going to vanish. When the time comes, we are going to re-evaluate everything and figure out a compensation model. Please don't ask us how much you're going to be compensated, because it's still being decided by the team.

"What's being reset? Will my account and creations be deleted?"
A full list of what's going to be reset:

  • Bricks and studs, NOT your account login.

  • Clothing

  • Store items

  • User inventories

PLEASE ASK US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS! This is a big upcoming change and we need to make sure everybody is on board with it. The community voice is really important, so please make a presence!
@everyone
Additional info and asterisk catch clause type stuff:

  • Currently, all of your limiteds are planned to be converted into store credit (based on their estimated value) that can be used after the reset

  • Details are still being determined for specifics like event items and special items such as the Nitro boosting reward kit. They'll still be removed from the store due to the format issues, but we will likely redistribute them to event winners and boosters. @willemsteller will update on this info soon

Additionally, all users who have spent real world money on Polytoria will have it returned as store credit
