OOH, so dramatic guys, muh dark age!!1!!!
They just made it dark mode (which is infinitely better than light mode) and if you really want light mode (in case you want to burn your eyeballs out) you can just use an extension for that. It's easier than throwing a giant temper tantrum in the forums.
